Self-serve documentation

The user guide is the complete in-product help (the same text is available offline via tass help and the Help button in both GUIs). The methods reference explains what each measure can and cannot claim; read it before reporting any TASS number in a manuscript. Community Edition issues can also be filed on GitHub.

Frequently asked questions

What platforms does TASS run on?

The Community Edition (engine, CLI, MCP server, local web GUI) runs anywhere Node 18 or newer runs: Windows, macOS, and Linux. The GUI Edition desktop workbench is in closed beta; platform coverage at public launch will be announced on the download page.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All analysis runs locally in every edition. The only network requests are ones you invoke by name: registry installs, the update check, and (from launch) license activation. There is no telemetry. See the privacy policy.

How does the trial work?

The GUI Edition installs with a 30-day trial: every feature enabled, analyses capped at 10,000 rows. No credit card and no key required.

Is the license really one-time?

Yes. One payment buys a perpetual license covering all v1.x updates. Later major versions are optional paid upgrades, and declining one never disables what you own.

Can I move my license to a new computer?

Yes. Deactivate on the old machine (Settings, then License, then Deactivate) and activate on the new one. If the old machine is gone, email us and we will reset your activation count.

A score surprised me. How do I check it?

Use exemplars to see the highest and lowest scoring documents with their matched terms, and KWIC to see every match in context. Most surprises are one ambiguous term doing heavy lifting; the validation workspace turns that suspicion into a reportable precision figure.

Does TASS include LIWC or NRC dictionaries?

No. Restricted resources are never bundled. If you have licensed a copy yourself, TASS imports the standard formats and flags every run that touches such a resource as academic-only, on stderr and in the manifest.

How do refunds work?

Unconditional 30-day money-back guarantee: full refund within 30 days of purchase, no reason needed. See the refund policy.
