Privacy Policy
This policy describes how SIM DAD LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("SIM DAD," "we," "us"), handles information in connection with the TASS application and the website at usetass.app. The short version: TASS is local-first software. The app sends us nothing. The site sets no cookies and runs only a first-party page counter.
1. The application: your data stays on your machine
TASS processes all text, dictionaries, analyses, and results entirely on your machine, in every edition. We do not collect, transmit, or store your text data, your results, your dictionaries, or your usage behavior. There is no telemetry and no third-party analytics or error-tracking service inside TASS.
The only network requests the application ever makes are ones you invoke by name:
- Registry installs (
tass install): fetches an open dictionary you asked for from the public registry on GitHub. - Update check: if you check for updates, the app asks our release endpoint for the latest version number. No identifier accompanies the request.
- License activation (GUI Edition, from public launch): activating a purchased key sends the key and a device identifier so the seat limit can be enforced. Purchases themselves are handled by our payment provider, identified at checkout, which processes your payment details under its own privacy policy; we receive your email address and order details, never your card number.
2. The website: a cookie-free counter, nothing else
usetass.app sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics. Each page sends a single, first-party, cookie-free page-view count to an endpoint we operate. It records only the page name and the date, stores no IP address and no identifier of any kind, and is skipped entirely when your browser sends Do Not Track. That aggregate daily count is the only measurement this site performs.
3. Email you send us
If you email us (support, beta applications, refund requests, T-Lex collaboration), we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use them to reply and to administer what you asked for. Beta applications include your institutional affiliation, which we use to confirm eligibility. We do not sell or share this information, and we do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit request.
4. Data retention and deletion
Correspondence is retained as long as needed to handle your request and our legal obligations. License records are retained while your license is active. To request deletion of your personal data, email tass@simdadllc.com; we will process the request within 30 days.
5. Children's privacy
TASS and this site are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
6. Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will update the effective date above. Because the app sends nothing, changes here concern the site and our correspondence handling.
7. Governing law and contact
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.
